Doerr Field is Sandusky's main park it is located close to downtown and takes up two city blocks. This park hosts an array of activities including a splash pad, baseball and softball fields, batting cages, basketball courts, playgrounds, and picnic shelters.

Summer Recreation

Summer Recreation is a six week program for boys and girls, ages 5-12 years of age. This programs offers field trips, swimming, arts & crafts and many other activities on a daily basis. Over 100 children participate annually.

Summer Recreation will start June 18th-July 26th, Monday-Thursday.

"Walk for Health"


The City of Sandusky aims to promote a healthy lifestyle by encouraging community members to get an adequate amount physical exercise by walking at the Diamond Trail or around the city.

For extra incentive receive a complimentary "Walk for Health" t-shirt for the first 100 miles walked and logged and another t-shirt when you reach 500 miles!

For children, we also offer fun bracelet charms that they can collect for every 10 miles walked and logged

It's easy! Sign up at City Hall. Log your own miles and send or bring them into City Hall. Use the form included with the sign-up brochure or download the mileage log. You must sign up at City Hall to be eligible for t-shirt.

You can plan your route on the City Map, available on the Map Page. Sandusky High School is available for walking in the halls on Mondays and Thursdays, 7:00-9:00 p.m., during the school year.





DiamondTrail-4C

Diamond Trail is a one-mile paved loop located on the Western edge of Sandusky, adjacent to Maple Valley School/ISD.  Signage directs bicyclists and pedestrians in opposing directions to avoid collisions. In the middle of the field is a mound that is used for sledding hill in the winter.

Diamond Trial is also home to a city-sponsored donor tree program where donors may have a tree planted with a plaque to commemorate someone.  For more information on commemorative trees stop in at the city building.
